App Store Completes 1.5 billion downloads,65,000 apps,100,000 devs.....Completed 2day..

More than 1.5 billion apps have been downloaded for the iPhone and iPod touch roughly a year after the App Store's launch. The store's wild success is no longer a surprise, though we could still use some help separating the wheat from the chaff.Apple announced this morning that customers have now downloaded more than 1.5 billion apps from the App Store. In addition to crossing this milestone only a few days after the App Store's one year anniversary, Apple says the store now has over 65,000 apps from 100,000 developers participating in the iPhone Developer Program.

It was only a couple months ago when the 1 billion mark was crossed. At that time, Apple celebrated by giving away prizes to the 1 billionth downloader (unfortunately there are no prizes this time around, folks). Still, Apple seems pretty happy about the news. “The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality,” Steve Jobs said in a statement. “With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up.”
